Winter Solstice Yin Yoga Workshop
Join Jen for this 1.5-hour yin yoga workshop where we gift ourselves the opportunity of stillness amongst the festivities, honouring the yin energies of the winter as we prepare to meet the Winter Solstice.
Yin yoga combines the ancient traditions of hatha yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to create a deeply nourishing and mindful practice.
While the poses may be familiar to those of you who practice yoga, in our yin practice we find a passivity in the shape using props so that we can hold the position for longer and target the body's deeper ‘yin’ tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, fascia - creating strength and mobility through the joints.
At the same time, there is an invitation to find stillness, surrender, and space in the mind. It’s an opportunity to dial down the pace of a busy ‘yang’ lifestyle and move towards a greater sense of balance and calm.
Energetically, we focus on activating the flow of Qi (chi) through the body by targeting the energy pathways, or meridians, as mapped out by TCM and perhaps more familiarly known through the practice of acupuncture.
And through the lens of this tradition, we start to explore the elements and the seasons, understanding and experiencing ourselves as not separate from but connected to the natural world around us.
During the workshop we will have time to start exploring and experiencing these benefits for ourselves as we delve in and practice together.
Sadly, this workshop is not suitable for anybody who is pregnant.
